Better tools deserve to talk to each other
There are more good tools available to tax firms than ever before. Practice management systems like Canopy give firms one place to run client relationships, collect documents, and manage billing. Firms that adopt them get serious operational structure.
The catch is that the tools don't talk to each other. A firm running Canopy still has to move data by hand into the tax software where the return actually gets filed. That middle step is the prep work, and for most firms the prep work still gets done by hand. Open the source document. Type the data into your tax software. Check the math. Fix what's wrong. Repeat for every wave of docs, every client, every season. The grunt work fills the day.
We're building the Juno + Canopy integration to close that gap. Your team gets back the hours that used to go into manual entry. Your firm takes on more returns without adding headcount. The workflow runs from intake to filing without the manual data entry in the middle.
Our tech team is actively building it now. Coming soon. Sign up for the waitlist for early access.
When the integration is ready, documents your clients send into Canopy will move to Juno for prep without downloads or re-uploads. Juno will extract the data, generate the workpaper, flag what needs your judgment, and push the results into Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect, CCH Axcess, and more.
Why we partnered with Canopy
Canopy and Juno are both built specifically for tax firms, and they sit right next to each other in the workflow. Canopy covers practice management: engagement letters, document collection, client portals, and billing in one place. Juno covers tax prep automation: data extraction, workpaper generation, and push into your tax software. The two products solve different problems, which is why the integration matters.
The firms most ready for this integration are the ones already running Canopy and still spending a meaningful share of busy season on manual tax prep work or data entry into tax software. Juno picks up right where Canopy leaves off.
What the integration will do
Client docs will go from Canopy to Juno. Source documents in a Canopy client folder go to Juno for prep with no downloads or re-uploads.
Juno will read anything your client sends. Juno extracts data from 100+ document types, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, Schedules C and E, and the blurry iPhone photo your client sent at midnight.
Juno will build the workpaper and flag what needs review. Juno generates a review-ready workpaper inside its Binder. Source-to-return mismatches, prior year changes, and missing docs get flagged for your team.
Data will push into your tax software. Juno pushes the extracted data into Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect, CCH Axcess, and more. Nothing moves until you say it's ready, and when it does, 100s of fields land in minutes, not the hour it takes by hand.
Who this is for
This integration is being built for Canopy firms doing tax prep on Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect, CCH Axcess, and more. The firms that will benefit most are the ones already feeling the pinch: their team spends a meaningful share of busy season on work that doesn't require judgment, and they want to scale capacity without adding headcount.
What's next
Our tech team is heads-down building the integration now. Once it's live, we'll keep building, with more of the workflow moving automatically between Canopy and Juno over time.
